In a year of great need, the Resonant Capital Advisors team enjoyed donating time and support this holiday season to the Empty Stocking Club.

In past years, team members have helped unpack gifts and assisted in-need families select gifts for children at the "Toy Depot," located at the Alliant Energy Center.

This year, the process is a little different for the organization, a non-profit operating since 1918 and supported by donations from readers of the organization's hometown newspaper, The Wisconsin State Journal. The organization plans to partner with school social workers and more than 50 area nonprofits and social service organizations that have existing relationships with families in need. Other toys this year may be distributed through community centers or day cares. There will also be the ability for advocates to pick up toys from the "Toy Depot."

On a recent morning at Alliant, a group of volunteers collaborated to unpack thousands of gifts from corporate partners, along with the Madison Reading Project, which will distribute thousands of books to area kids this year. A total of 475 volunteers participated in 2019, and more could be needed this year, according to the organizers.

Toy distribution is scheduled for this week. Those wishing to participate can volunteer through the following site: www.emptystockingclub.com

The organization describes its mission as: "The Wisconsin State Journal Empty Stocking Club has been a cherished Madison-area tradition since 1918. The Empty Stocking Club's mission is to make sure that every child in the area, no matter how needy, will receive at least one new Christmas gift this holiday season."
