Jill Derr is Resonant Capital Advisors’ CFO and Director of Client Financial Organization. She holds the CPA designation and worked for most of her professional career in the real estate and property management business that she and her husband Tom have owned and operated for many years. In addition to her real estate experience, Jill has provided accounting and financial reporting services to early-stage companies, single family offices, foundations and endowments throughout her career.

In addition to her internal duties at Resonant, Jill works primarily with the firm’s business-owning clients, consulting on their financial organization and reporting structures and processes. She and Tom live in Sun Prairie and are very involved in their local community. They have two daughters, Ashley and Melissa, and a son, John.

If you have an open schedule on a weekend to do anything, what do you enjoy doing?

I truly enjoy hanging out with my husband and grown kids at the lake house. If that’s not possible, I always enjoy a fly-out dinner or weekend with my husband in our small plane.

What profession did you want to have when you were young?

When I was little, I told my parents I wanted to wear a suit and high heels and walk the streets of Chicago. I think I was trying to say I wanted to be a businesswoman?

What is your favorite movie of all-time?

Top Gun. I’m looking forward to the release of Top Gun 2 this summer.

If you could snap your fingers and become an expert in something, what would it be?

A chef, although I have no desire to operate a restaurant. I love to cook but currently don’t spend enough time doing it.

What was the best concert you ever attended?

Billy Joel and Elton John together at Milwaukee County Stadium. It was the last concert in the stadium before it was demolished to make way for Miller Park.

What’s something you’ve done, but will never do again?

Ziplining over Arenal Volcano National Park in Costa Rica. I have a fear of heights but overcame it for this amazing (not to be repeated) experience.
